Does acupuncture hurt?
If you have an ingrained fear of needles, you’re not alone. If the prospect of having needles stuck in your face or other parts of your body for pain relief or facial rejuvenation is giving you pause, you’ll be happy to know that acupuncture needles are so fine, that people often report not feeling them go in at all. A dull ache around the insertion site, a slight tingling sensation, or a feeling of warmth are the most common descriptions of the sensations experienced by most acupuncture patients. These are all good signs that the body is responding to the treatment as it should.
Will I Bleed or bruise after acupuncture?
Because the needles used in acupuncture treatments are micro-thin, bleeding or bruising is rare. If it does occur, it is usually only slight. If you are taking medications such as blood thinners, please let your acupuncturist know before starting treatment. We may recommend another treatment protocol for you in this case. In general, though, acupuncture is very safe, and all practitioners at Wheeler Acupuncture And Functional Wellness are fully certified in the practice.
